The Bug in the Suit available at Electric Spec

The latest issue of Electric Spec is now live and includes my dark sci-fi tale, The Bug in the Suit. Read it here or download the entire issue in PDF or PRC formats. Note: italics seem to be omitted from the online version so I'd recommend the PDF. Comments welcome.

Very dark, and a great ending. I loved it.

I hope you appreciate it: I read this on my dinner break at work just now! A couple of grammatical errors, but I'm sure that is the editors problem rather than yours.

Sci-fi ain't really my bag (as you know) but I kinda got in to this one. For the most part you narrowed the focus so the genre doesn't really become the issue for the reader.

For a while I was right there, in his helmet... :o)

Lovely. Vivid imagery--I felt trapped, anxious. Very nice, Mr. Dines. I like the juxaposition of the battle--"Hundreds, maybe thousands, are dying" and the protag's immediate surroundings at the end.

Thanks for reading the story, guys. I really do appreciate the time and effort it took.

Sci-fi isn't usually my thing (though arguably it's as much a horror tale as a SF one) but the idea or at least the image of the bug crawling around inside this guy's headgear refused to leave me for months. What choice did I have but to write the damn thing down, eh? Anyway, I'm please that you both enjoyed it.
